Record of the Year Milik Kings of Leon
LOS ANGELES – Record of the Year, satu dari empat kategori umum Grammy Awards (Grammys) 2010 adalah lagu “Use Somebody” dari Kings of Leon. Maka terdepaklah “Halo” (Beyonce), “I Gotta Feeling” (The Black Eyed Peas), “Poker Face” (Lady Gaga), dan You Belong with Me (Taylor Swift).
Dengan Record of the Year jatuh ke lagu dari Kings of Leon itu, Song of the Year direbut oleh Beyonce dengan lagu “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)”, dan Zac Brown Band menjadi Best New Artist, tinggal peraih satu kategori umum lagi yang belum diumumkan–Album of the Year. Kalau album “I am… Sasha Fierce” dari Beyonce meraih penghargaan Album of the Year, jadilah Beyonce unggul dalam perolehan penghargaan untuk kategori umum tersebut.
Dalam kategori Country, Carrie Underwood dan Randy Travis menyabet Best Country Collaboration with Vocals dengan lagu mereka yang berjudul “I Told You So”. Dalam kategori lain, Green Day berhasih merebut Best Rock Album dengan “21st Century Breakdown”, mendepak AC/DC, Black Ice, Eric Clapton, dan Steve Winwood (“Live from Madison Square Garden”), Dave Matthews Band (“Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King), dan U2 (“No Line on the Horizon”).
Untuk kategori Rap, Jay-Z meraih Best Rap Solo Performance dengan lagu “D.O.A. (Death Of Auto-Tune)”. Eminem, Dr. Dre, dan 50 Cent menggondol Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group dengan “Crack a Bottle”. Sementara itu, Best Rap Song jatuh ke Jay-Z, Rihanna, dan Kanye West dengan lagu “Run This Town”. Untuk kategori Best Rap Album, Eminem membawa penghargaan dengan albumnya yang berjudul “Relapse”.
